While waiting in line at the local post office to express mail a letter to the GA Bar Association (the subject of a future entry), the sole clerk allowed a regular customer to drop off a mail bucket). Heather said something to the customer about express mail and tomorrow morning. Because there were several people in front of me and I"d had a migraine most of the day, I asked Heather if I'd missed the Express Mail pickup.
She yelled at me that she was talking to another customer and that I hadn't missed the pickup. I said, "ok, I was just checking because if I had missed it, I was going to leave." She then proceeded to yell across the room about how she knew I was upset. I told her I was not upset, I simply wanted to know if I had missed the pickup. One of women in line with me said,"that was uncalled for," and the other said, "well, she's just having a bad day, but you never take it out on the customer."
When I got to the counter, she again tried to discuss the other customer in her annoying, nasally voice. I told her there was no need to discuss the matter any more. I really wanted to tell her to just shut the * up.
